A financial package from Southwestern Solar Systems and Clean Power Finance includes full service. What repairs are covered?

How do I know if my solar system is working?

A solar system is quiet and unobtrusive. There is no sound indication or other tangible sign that your system is working. When you choose Southwestern Solar Systems, you won't ever have to wonder whether your system is performing optimally. Every Southwestern Solar Systems solar system is equipped with a Enlighten™ website Monitor that transmits the performance data of the system to Southwestern Solar Systems via the Internet. In the unlikely event that your system isn't performing at optimal levels, we'll investigate and remedy the situation.

How does the Performance Guarantee work?

Southwestern Solar Systems offers a performance guarantee that your system will produce as much electricity as we promise, or we will correct the system. This takes into account normal weather variation and solar panel performance over time. The amount of electricity we promise to deliver is the kW number that is stated in your proposal and contract. We track your system performance through the Enlighten™ website Monitoring Service. If your system underperforms, Southwestern Solar Systems will be notified so an evaluation of the problem can be determined.

How long can I expect my new solar system to last?

Your solar panels carry a 25-year warranty. The majority of solar systems may far outlast their warranties; many of the first solar systems installed more than 40 years ago are still going strong.

How long will it take to get my new solar system up and running?

A typical residential roof installation takes about 3 days from the day we begin the installation. The length of time depends on the complexity of your roof line and the number of panels that will be installed, it may take a day or two. The estimated installation time will be included in the design proposal presented to you by Southwestern Solar Systems.

  How reliable are solar systems?

Over the past three decades, solar products manufacturers have spent millions of dollars and thousands of research hours to develop solar technologies that are both highly sophisticated and extremely reliable. Southwestern Solar Systems only installs products from top-rated manufacturers; our goal is to provide you with a worry-free installation process and many years of clean, dependable energy from a source that is infinitely renewable: the sun. Some of the first solar energy systems that were installed over 40 years ago are still going strong.

Is it difficult to have solar installed on my house?

No. Southwestern Solar Systems makes it simple to switch to solar. Our team has been doing successful solar installations for more than 20 years. We handle everything from design and installation to administration and ongoing system monitoring. We take care of the details; you enjoy the savings.

Is now a good time to buy a solar system?

The traditional energy marketplace is becoming increasingly volatile as sources of fossil fuel dwindle; as a result, rates are spiking to all-time highs. Simultaneously, federal and state governments are offering generous rebates and incentives for homeowners to choose solar. Because rebate levels are structured to decrease over time, now is the optimal time to make the switch.

  No big utility bill? Really?

Really! When you enter into a Net Metering agreement with your local utility company, your energy usage is detailed on one annual statement. If you owe any amount to the utility, that amount will be detailed on the annual statement. If you want to find out how much electricity your solar power system is generating at any time throughout the year, you may log in to your Enlighten™ website and check your usage.

  What are the warranties?

Many of the parts on your solar system, such as solar panels, carry manufacturer's warranties of 25 years; other parts, such as inverters, carry 10-year warranties. Southwestern Solar Systems adds an additional 10-year warranty on installation and performance, the longest warranty of its kind in the industry. When you engage Southwestern Solar Systems to design and install your solar system, we will provide you with documentation on every warranty that applies to your system.

What happens when the sun goes down?

At night, when your solar panels can no longer capture sunlight, you will automatically begin to draw power from the utility grid. Since you are always connected to the grid, this happens seamlessly; you won't know when the switch has occurred. Your home will be fully powered at all times, day or night. You never have to worry about "running out" of energy.

What if my roof needs repairs after I've installed solar panels?

Ideally, you should install solar panels on a roof that is in good condition. When a Southwestern Solar Systems expert comes out to inspect your home prior to installation, he or she will check to make sure that your roof is suitable for a solar installation. Once the solar panels are installed, they actually help to protect your roof from the elements. If you should ever need to make repairs on the roof, the solar panels will need to be removed and re-installed. Southwestern Solar Systems offers this service for a reasonable fee.

  What's an inverter?

An inverter is a device that converts power from one form to another. An inverter will convert the DC power captured by the photovoltaic cells on your solar panels into AC power. AC power is identical to the power supplied to you by the traditional electric utility grid, and can be used to power your home.

Will I need to make lifestyle changes if I switch to solar?

No. Solar electric systems fit seamlessly into your home. You won't have to buy new appliances or change your electrical outlets; everything will work just the same as it did before. You should experience no practical changes except for one: you won't have to pay a big electrical bill every month!
